Last month the state of Florida instituted a measure that will require potential welfare recipients to submit to and pass drug tests in order to receive welfare benefits.

Of course, the bleeding heart liberals immediately came out of the woodwork and the governor of Florida was put on the defensive.

My little sister posted kudos to the state of Vermont on here FaceBook page.

Now my little sister is FAR from a staunch conservative. First, she lives in the People’s Republic of Vermont. With her WIFE. So she’s not exactly Richard Nixon. But she agrees that welfare should be reserved for people that really need a leg up, not people that are simply to lazy to make their own way in the world.

The first comment on her wall was a common complaint that the Florida policy was “blatantly unconstitutional”.

Note to liberals. Just because you don’t like something, that doesn’t make it unconstitutional.

It may even be a good idea for you to READ the U.S. Constitution before you attempt to make a constitution argument.

Since I have actually READ the U.S. Constitution I feel mildly qualified to comment.

The Constitution grants all U.S. Citizens the right to PURSUE happiness. It doesn’t say anything about the government being required to hand it to you.

A welfare check is A GIFT. It is funded by the taxes of people who HAVE jobs.

Since it is a gift, the government has the RIGHT to attach any qualifications and requirements that they, and WE the funding taxpayers desire.

It is an unmitigated fact that a majority of welfare recipients (meaning more than 50%) are long term or multiple time recipients. Receiving state welfare has become a profession in this country and your tax dollars are paying for entirely too many parties, bags of dope, race car tires and other things that have nothing to do with making sure that the children in those households are prepared to break free of the cycle then they become adults.

Many employers, especially state and federal agencies regularly drug test their employees and terminate them if they test positive.

Drug testing for welfare is no different.

In teh real world where people are expected to be responsible for their actions, if you fail a drug test at work YOU GET FIRED.

If you are caught in possession of drugs – you are arrested and prosecuted !

Nobody is “entitled” to a free ride. If you need to do dope – get a job and pay for it yourself !

I recently read comments by our current President, Barrack Obama, concerning the “rights” of war detainees from Afghanistan and Iraq being held at Gitmo (Guantanamo Bay).

With off due respect to the office of the President of the United States, Mr. Obama, perhaps I can edify you as to the the relevance of the United States Constitution that you continue to refer to in this matter.

Attention !!!

Foreign Combatants Have NO RIGHTS under the U.S. Constitution !

The United State’s Constitution assures certain rights to “We the People, of the United States of America”.

End of discussion!

The U.S. Constitution simply does not apply to foreign combatants. Period. continue reading…
